Though the exact origins of Origami are still unknown, the most accepted theory suggests that it originated in Japan around the 1600s or 1700s. What is JSA?
The Japanese Student Association (JSA) is an SA funded club at the University of Rochester dedicated to spreading awareness and appreciation for the Japanese culture. JSA holds various events throughout the year from smaller events such as potlucks to larger events such as the Japanese Expo and speaker events.
How can I get involved?
JSA is open to any University of Rochester student, faculty or staff! If you want to be part of our emailing list, contact with us with your email address, and net ID. If you are not associated with the University of Rochester but would like to work with us, please let us know! We would love to work with other organizations to fulfill our club mission!

Club and Activities Fair
September 8th 2013 3:00PM to 4:30PM
Look out for us at the Fall 2013 Club Fair during orientation week at Dandelion Square! JSA will have a booth with pamphlets and sign up sheets! Stop by if you're interested in joining our emailing list or if you're interested in getting involved with the club!
General Interest Meeting/Officer Elections
September 10th, 2013 8:00PM to 9:00PM
JSA will hold the first general interest meeting on September 8th in the Haven's lounge. We will talk about the goals and missions of this club, and some of the events we currently have planned this semester. All interested members are encouraged to attend. We will also provide information for elections which will be on September 14th from 2:00PM in the Haven's Lounge for a select few positions.
Omatsuri Festival
October 3rd 5:00PM to 8:00PM
Omatsuri (お祭り), is a traditional Japanese street festival, which often celebrate a holiday or commemorates special occasions. One of the most common and prevalent of these is called an ennichi(縁日), and modern day ennichis include street food, activities, and music. JSA will be hosting a Japanese festival in the Wilson Commons Patio which will include games, activities, music, and traditional Japanese festival food.
